TYPES OF RELATIONSHIPS
Relationships are one of the most important things in people’s lives. Precisely, what is relationship? The Cambridge International Dictionary of English says “relationship is the way in which two or more people feel and behave towards each other.” In fact, nobody can live alone and everyone needs someone to be next to them. Therefore, people cannot live without any relationships. Relationships can be classified on the basis of where they happen.
The first type is at school. School can be where most people make friends for the first time. People meet most of their friends at school ― kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school, high school, and university. They usually become friends with their classmates at first, and they could be the beginning of making other friends. This is how people widen a circle of friendship.
Another type of relationship is at work. Now many students have a part-time job after school, where they learn something about the world before they get a full-time job. Through working part-time, they gradually understand about society such as hardships between them and their employers and those between them and their coworkers. The relationships at work are not always easy to deal with, and they are often rather difficult for many Japanese people. However, it sure is a very good experience to learn the difficulty of the relationships at work while they are students.
The last type of relationship is at home. Home is where people live, where they should return, and also where their families are. Some people are already independent and might no longer live with their families. However, their homes should always be where they could go back anytime they want. The Cambridge International Dictionary of English says that the family is the basis of a social group. People first learn about society at their homes. Family is the most important kind of relationships in this way.
There are many other kinds of relationships than those mentioned before. People basically cannot live without relationships, and I really feel so now that I live by myself far away from my family. However, there are friends who support me when I am in a trouble. I am really happy with the relationships I have so far.
